Gregory Housing Authority in Texas was recently awarded a reservation of low income housing tax credits from the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairsfor the comprehensive rehabilitation of two public housing properties, Orchid Circle and Las Palmas. The award of $600,000in low income housing tax credits will result in more than $4 million in needed renovations. Working with Housing Solutions Alliance, LLC as its development partner, the award will implement about $70,000 per unit in needed upgrades to these 58 public housing units. The renovations will include not only upgrades to finishes, but new cabinets, appliances, doors and hardware, plumbing and electrical fixtures, new heating and air conditioning systems, new windows, the addition of washer-dryers, energy efficient features and ample resident amenities. The scope includes upgrades to infrastructure as well.
Gregory Housing Authority hosted a Christmas party for the children that reside on our properties. The party was held at GHA’s Community Room and the staff served pizza and Christmas treats. Resident volunteers Elizabeth Bennett and Marina Sanchez entertained the children with games and crafts.
Through generous donations from voelstalpine Texas LLC and Cheniere the housing authority was able to purchase a gift for each child and a random drawing was held for a Leap frog pad, bicycle, Ipod, tablet and laptop.
